More IBLs help in SEO. Although having links from bad communities may just mean more trouble than benefit in SEO. Although any inbound link may help, they work best if the topics of the pages linking to your site are the same as what your site is all about.

Using free directories may help since search engine friendly directories are well categorized and you can simply add your website to the proper category where your site supposed to be added.

A search engine friendly directory are those with links without the nofollow attribute or does not use any type of redicting script for its links.
