How to notify blog search engines that you have an update
By Benj Arriola - Posted on Mon Sep 18, 2006There are many blog search engines out there, and one of the popular ones is Technorati. These blog search engines can be notified that you have update your blog, and they will visit your site, and even read your RSS feeds just by pinging them. Sending a ping, is like sending a notification.
Two blogs I will give credit to where I found some of the free ping services are Max Kiesler and WebTrafficIdeas who talked about these free ping services:
But if you have blog softwares that you can just place in your ping URLs, all you need is the list of URLs to ping. In Wordpress, in your Admin Options, go to Write, and you will see where to place your ping URLs. I first saw a list of ping URLs from Gio, until Mike Lopez came out with a longer ping list. His ping list is posted below:

If you add this to your Wordpress list of sites to ping, expect a longer time to publish a post in Wordpress right after you hit the Publish button.

[...] To tell blog search engines you have updates, a good way to do it is to ping them so they pull the updates from your site right away. I have seen a long list from Isulong SEOph competitor and current leader Gio, and I found a long list for SEO Philippines member Mike Lopez. More about the complete ping list of URLs here. Share and Enjoy:These icons link to social bookmarking sites where readers can share and discover new web pages. [...]

Though the article is few years old, I think it still applicable and there’s almost no change change with regards to pinging (maybe with the list though). Will use it in my blog. Thanks for the list!

Fantastic list. Even I now become aware of how ping system works. I know wordpress has got a fantastic option for using ping but I’m not sure how blog providers like bloggers, typepad works!! Anyway thanks a bunch for the list.
